Magazine

May 2008 Issue

The theme for May 2008 is "Ethics on the Job." Before discussing the practical aspects of this vitally important subject, it is important to understand the difference between "values" and "ethics." These two terms are commonly used inter-changeably when in fact, they have quite different meanings. There is also considerable confusion to exactly what each word means.

"Values" are fundamental beliefs or principles of what is right or wrong. "Ethics" on-the-other-hand, is the conduct or behavior that is expected of a person or group of people based on what is right, good, honest, and fair. So, keep these definitions in mind as you read the three featured articles in this issue of Leadership Guide Magazine :

  1. Leadership Rises to the Top Through Trust and Purpose by Don Monteith
  2. Ethics in Action - Steps to Avoid Sexual Harassment Complaints by Fred A. Manske Jr.
  3. Effective Leadership Under Pressure by Linda Hatcher
